Six prep players were taken at the NHL Draft over the weekend, headlined by Thayer’s Jay O’Brien, our Player of the Year. O’Brien was selected 19th overall by the Flyers.

Kimball Union’s Jordan Harris, an NZ Prep Second Team All-Star, was selected in the third round by Montreal. Three players were picked in the sixth round — New Hampton’s Michael Kesserling, St. Sebastian’s Liam Gorman and Salisbury’s Peter Diliberatore. St. Sebastian’s Riley Hughes was the second-to-last pick in the draft, taken by the Rangers. Diliberatore was drafted by the Golden Knights, Gorman by the Penguins and Kesserling by the Oilers.

All players selected earned NZ Prep awards this past season. O’Brien and Dliberatore were on the First Team while Harris and Hughes were on the Second Team. Kesserling was an honorable mention and Gorman earned a spot on the All-Junior Team.
