Lawrence Academy at Thayer: February 10, 2018

Canton, Mass- In the final ISL Keller matchup between Lawrence Academy and Thayer Academy, Thayer swept the season series with a 6-2 win.

LA fell to 15-8-1 on the season and will head to Governors on Wednesday. Thayer jumped to 12-9-1 and will hosts St.Paul’s on Wednesday.

The scoring for Thayer started when Evan Googins (Braintree, Ma) fired a s shot that missed wide. Christian Hayes (Milton, MA) drove hard to the post and jammed a rebound that Reilly Moran (Hingham, MA) put home to make it 1-0.

At the 13:12 mark in the second, Jay O’Brien (Hingham, MA) got a pass on the halfway mark, brought it to the net and slide it right under Ian Graiff (Newfield, NJ) to make it 2-0. Just a few minutes later, Hayes found himself on the score sheet again by jamming home a lose rebound in the slot to make it 3-0.

At the start of the third, Googins collected a pass at the Lawrence Academy blue line in transition from Hayes and scored short side to make it 4-0. On the next shift, Lawrence Academy responded on the power play. Braden Doyle (Lynnfield, MA) passed to Drew Bavaro (Bradenton, FL) for a one timer that Gunnar Fontaine (East Greenwich, RI) tipped in to make it 4-1. Thayer scored on the power play when Aiden McDonough (Milton, MA) tucked one short side under the cross bar to make it 5-1. At the six minute mark, Neil Shea (Marshfield, MA) put one home from Sam Colangelo (Stoneham, MA) and Braden Doyle to make it 5-2. O’Brien then potted his second on an ENG.
