Groton, Mass.– The ISL Keller matchups between Lawrence Academy and St. Sebastian’s featured the Spartans pulling away with a 4-2 win. Lawrence Academy jumps to 15-7-1 on the season and is riding an eight-game winning streak as it heads down to the Canton Sportsplex tomorrow night for a rematch with Thayer. St. Sebastian’s drops to 12-8-1 and hosts Hoosac tomorrow.
St. Sebastian’s started the scoring just a few shifts into the game, when Connor Joyce found Evan Reddick (Lynn, MA) in the slot to put one away to put the Arrows up 1-0. Towards the end of the first, Gunnar Fontaine (East Greenwich, RI) fed Sam Colangelo (Stoneham, MA) cross-ice in the neutral zone, who then fed Neil Shea (Marshfield, MA). Shea went to the back post to tie it up at 1-1 at the end of the first.
Lawrence took the lead off a Connor Sweeney (North Andover, MA) faceoff win to Tyler Young (Lancaster, MA), who used the traffic in front to put it upstairs and make it 2-1. Just a few minutes later, Fontaine picked off a pass from a St.Sebastian’s defenseman and scored on a breakaway to make it 3-2 at the end of two.
Three minutes into the third, Fontaine caused a turnover at St. Sebastian’s blue line and went in on a breakaway and put his second of the night home to make it 4-1 LA. St. Sebastian’s put one home late in the third to make it 4-2.
Ian Graiff (Newfield, NJ) turned away 38 or 40 shots in the win. Drew Commesso (Norwell, MA) made 28 of 32 saves in the loss.
