Belmont, Mass.- In the second matchup between the two teams, Lawrence Academy evened the series with the 4-2 win. Lawrence Academy improved to 12-7-1 on the season and is riding a five-game winning streak. Belmont Hill dropped to 9-7-5 with back-to-back losses.
The Spartans got the scoring started off early when Neil Shea (Marshfield, MA) found the back of the net, with help from Sam Colangelo (Stoneham, MA) and Gunnar Fontaine (East Greenwich, RI). The Spartans took a 1-0 lead into the second.
Belmont Hill came out hot in the second and tied it 1-1 when Noah Traylor (Belin, MA) scored. About seven minutes later, Shea found a streaking Fontaine for a breakaway and Fontaine slide it home five-hole to give the Spartans a 2-1 lead heading into intermission.
At the start of the third period, Shea potted his second of the night. It started with a Matt Connor (Amherst, NH) breakout pass to Fontaine, which resulted in Lawrence Academy taking a 3-1 lead. At the 8:07 mark of the third, Colangelo put one home from the right faceoff circle to give the Spartans a three-goal lead. Belmont Hill made a late push, getting it to 4-2 with a Robert Radochia (Woburn, MA) goal from the blue line.
Ian Graiff (Newfield, NJ) turned away 22 of 24 shots in the win while Connor Hopkins made 28 of 32 saves in the loss.
Lawrence Academy will host Hebron and BB&N this weekend while Belmont Hill will host Andover on Friday.
